    Description

Jack Kirby and Mike Royer Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #147 Original Art (DC, 1972). Superman himself appears on this page, along with some residents of Supertown of New Genesis! Kirby's use of big, bold panels gave his Fourth Worth Saga a feeling of power and importance, as each panel is essentially a small "splash page" on their own. Magnar, featured on this page, is an example of the way Kirby would populate his Fourth World epic with characters that could have been the star of its own stories, but were not essential to this one. It gave the story a feeling of being part of something bigger... like the reader was only able to see part of what was going on. The page was rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Toned, with some production tape residue in the margins. In Very Good condition.
