Jack Kirby and Dick Ayers - Tales to Astonish #13 Splash Page 1 Original Art (Marvel, 1960). Groot, the monster from Planet X, towers over the puny townspeople of Earth in this spectacular splash page. Impervious to fire, it was up to scientist Leslie Evans to figure out how to "conquer the unconquerable" creature. Here's an interesting aside for monster connoisseurs: Marvel monster fans posting on cite beat poet Gregory Corso as a major Groot enthusiast who refers to the living log in several of his poems! There can be no doubt -- Jack Kirby was the "King" of monster designs! The image area of this cool piece measures 12.5" x 18.5", and it is in Excellent condition. Dick Ayers has signed the page in the lower right.
