Jack Davis Tales From the Crypt #29 Story Page 1 Original Art (EC, 1952). The opening page for the Bill Gaines/Al Feldstein story "Grounds... for Horror!" has a huge image of the Crypt-Keeper introducing the story -- in fact this is one of the strongest images of the classic horror host, by his greatest artist, a collector could ever hope to find. And in terms of pure Davis artwork, the splash rivals many of his covers, in our minds. A charming (?) little bit to notice is that the Crypt-Keeper is carving a heart inscribed with a "C.K. + O.W." inside it. Does this mean that the Crypt-Keeper has the hots for the Old Witch? We didn't even know he had a heart! Produced at twice-up scale in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 11" x 19". The logo is a stat paste-up on the lightly toned page. It is UV glass front framed to 23.5" x 29". In Very Good condition.
