Winsor McCay - Uncle Sam Editorial Cartoon Illustration Original Art (undated). Uncle Sam oversees and cheers Congress making use of idle funds in this early editorial cartoon showing a money bin even Uncle Scrooge would be proud to own. Truly one of the fathers of both the American comic strip and animated cartoons, Winsor McCay was renowned for his landmark works, Little Nemo In Slumberland and Dreams of the Rarebit Fiend. In addition, McCay was a prolific editorial cartoonist of his day, possessing a fine eye and dry wit for the events of the time. This original has an image area of 16.5" x 11.5", and is in Excellent condition. The piece was signed by Winsor McCay at the bottom right.More information about Winsor McCay.
