Description

Winsor McCay Political Cartoon Illustration Original Art (undated). Caption: "The People and Peace sleep, while the greedy, profiteers, and crooked politicians take from them." Late in his career, the prolific and versatile Winsor McCay went on to become an influential editorial cartoonist for the Hearst newspapers, while still continuing his comic strip and animation work. McCay penned his own epitaph when he wrote, "Simply, I could not keep myself from drawing." This political cartoon by Winsor McCay has a torn off lower right corner (reattached with tape on the back), but it still displays his mastery at drawing with a pen. He really had no peer. The overall art paper measures 14.5" x 16.5". The paper shows overall aging; otherwise, it's in Good condition.
