Wally Wood MAD #31 "Don Giovanni" Page 4 Illustration Original Art (EC, 1957). In an effort to curb the rising tide of 1950s Rock 'n Roll and "convert crew-cuts into long hairs" (funny how that switched around in the 1960s), MAD brings its readers a dose of culture via this "Comic Opera," with illustrations by Wally Wood. Here are two of the illos from page 4 of that piece, featuring Leporello and Don Giovanni hiding from the rest of the cast in a cemetery, and "stumbling through the night" after the statue they sat upon talks to them. Boy, what fun! Both illustrations are on a piece of 8.5" x 16.5" Craftint Duoboard, with images measuring 8" x 6.75" and 7" x 6.5". Note the "Kirby" on the base of the statue (of Don Pedro), which was omitted from the printed version -- this "R. I. P. Kirby" joke referenced Alex Raymond's Rip Kirby comic strip. The art is in Very Good condition.
