Theodor Seuss Geisel The World of Dr. Seuss - Cat In The Hat Lunch Box Illustration Original Art (Aladdin, 1970). Hand-drawn by Doctor Seuss himself, not by a mouse or a fox or an elf.It's a fun piece that's really cool, you may have taken it to school.
From an embossed metal lid, on a lunchbox for a kid.
The Cat in the Hat and Things 1 and 2, kept a sandwich just for you.
Enough Seussisms, this is a true piece of Americana Art and Baby Boomer history. The "World of Dr. Seuss" embossed painted metal lunch box was a prized possession for many kids. In 2008, we sold the original artwork for just the thermos art for this lunch box and it went for over $14,000.00! Now you could own the original art from the lid. It was created in ink with red highlights on illustration board. The image area measures 11.25" x 9.25". The artwork is dated 1969 at the top, and the lunchbox was released in 1970. It comes with the vellum overlay color guide. The logo is acetate overlay paste-ups, and the coffee cup near it is an original art paste-up. There is some production tape on the piece, but overall it is in Excellent condition.
