Description

Russ Heath What The--?! #5 Ad Parody Illustration Original Art (Marvel, 1989). Legendary artist Russ Heath was best known for his work on DC Comics war stories, as well as the popular "Little Annie Fanny" feature in Playboy. He will also be remembered for producing the iconic advertisement art images depicting battle scenes for toy soldier sets that graced the back cover of comic books in the 1960s and 70s. Heath revisits his most recognizable work with a parody of those ads -- chaos rules the streets in this over-the-top illustration for a fake toy soldier set labeled "153pc Street Gang Set" included in the Marvel satire comic What The--?!. Rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image size of 13" x 9". Slight toning, blank spaces left for text, loose and missing black line border, and signed by Heath in the image area. In Very Good condition.
