Description

Rudy Palais Magazine Digest Illustrations Original Art Group of 3 (c. 1950s). The men's magazine market took off in the 1950s and all of those magazines needed artwork, and fast! Most of these illustrations were spot illos that publishers paid a flat rate for, which incentivized artists to produce more. Rudy Palais was one of the scores of comic book and comic strip artists who supplemented, if not sustained, their monthly income. These illustrations were created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of approximately 9" x 7", affixed to a second illustration or Bristol board for production purposes. Acetate overlay with color guide affixed to the boards. Moderate toning and handling wear. Production notes in in pencil and ink in margins and in Very Good condition.
From the Roger Hill Collection.
