Description

Roy G. Krenkel Land of Terror Page 56 Illustration Original Art (Canaveral Press, 1963). "It Sprang High into the Air After Me." David Innes scrambles for his life, clinging to a vine-draped tree as a fierce Tarag leaps in pursuit in this interior illustration by Krenkel for Edgar Rice Burroughs' fantasy novel, the sixth in the Pellucidar "hollow earth" series. With its exotic foliage and primal urgency, the piece carries a strong Tarzan sensibility, no surprise from the legendary artist who built his career bringing Burroughs' lush jungles and untamed worlds to life. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 5.5" x 8.75". Light toning, light smudging/soiling in margins, and marginal production notes. Signed in the lower right image area and in Excellent condition.
From the Howard Lowery Collection.
