Description

Ralph Reese Pandora Original Art (2016). Though undocumented as to publishing pedigree, Reese's masterful composition resonates with an evocation of the Graeco-Roman myth of Pandora and the demonic plague she unwittingly summoned. Terror and an erotic charge vie for dominance on a grand scale of 19" x 15". Reese's hand-laid inking looks astonishingly like Duo-Tone chemical shading -- but every pen-stroke is purely organic, enhanced with pale-sepia ink-wash effects. One portion (the torch at upper left) appears deliberately unfinished, perhaps to accommodate the addition of digital color enhancement. Light toning in the illustration board. A vivid example of Reese's ability to take his early tutelage under the great Wally Wood to a Next Level of accomplishment. Excellent condition.
