    Description

    Ralph Briggs (R.B.) Fuller Life Magazine Illustration Original Art (Life Publishing, undated). A hobo receives the third-degree treatment from a police squad in this grimly satirical drawing from the early incarnation of Life as a social-commentary journal. Fuller, celebrated for his comedy-adventure strip Oaky Doaks (1935-61), proves in the present piece to be thinking already in comic-strip terms, with the use of a word-balloon narrative device in place of the customary caption. Detailed ink-and-watercolor composition on heavyweight illustration board. Image area, 8" x 10". Moderately toned and in Excellent condition.
