Description

Nestor Redondo - Swamp Thing Illustration Original Art (1986). Part of the influential wave of Filipino artists that reshaped U.S. comics in the 1970s, Nestor Redondo made an immediate splash in a tough assignment, taking over Swamp Thing after Bernie Wrightson with Issue #11 and delivering both pencils and inks through Issue #23. An exquisite draftsman with lush, elegant blacks, Redondo remains a bit underrated even with work this strong. He returns to the Muck Monster here with a moody vision of Swamp Thing stalking into the swamp under a full moon, bats cutting through the heavy night air. Rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10.75" x 12". Light toning, with heavier toning on the edges, light smudging, and light handling wear. Signed and dated by Redondo in the lower left image area. In Very Good condition.
From the Roger Hill Collection.
