Mike Ploog Marvel Spotlight #5 Ghost Rider Cover Re-Creation Original Art (undated). Ghost Rider roars into comic history in a blaze of hellfire here, a fitting tribute to the moment a legend was indeed born. When Marvel Spotlight #5 hit newsstands in 1972, Johnny Blaze's fiery debut reimagined the Western Ghost Rider as a supernatural stunt-riding antihero. Readers were instantly hooked, with the Spirit of Vengeance quickly earning his own title. Mike Ploog, who helped co-create Ghost Rider alongside Gary Friedrich and Roy Thomas, revisits that iconic first appearance with this scorching re-creation of the landmark cover that lit the fuse on one of Marvel's most enduring occult icons. Rendered in graphite over blue pencil on vellum affixed to Bristol board, with an image area of 9.5" x 15". An acetate overlay with printed logo/masthead paste-ups is taped to the top edge. Edge tear, marginal staining, and minor handling wear. Signed by Ploog in the lower right image area. In Excellent condition.Auction Info
