Description

Michel Gourdon Denonciation Illustration Original Art (Editions du Fleuve Noir, 1962). An exceptional and highly atypical work of Michel Gourdon, markedly distinct from his well-known Pin-Up imagery and his iconic cover illustrations for Éditions Fleuve Noir. This powerful illustration was conceived as a denunciation of the crimes against humanity committed during the Second World War. Dominating the composition is an ultra-realistic, dark, and deeply somber bust of Adolf Hitler, looming over a mass grave. The stark contrast between the monumental portrait and the grim scene below creates a chilling visual impact, confronting the viewer with the horrors of the period. Rendered with striking realism and a deliberately oppressive atmosphere, the image is both unsettling and profoundly evocative, standing as one of the most haunting and emotionally charged works attributed to the artist. Acrylic painting on tick board protected with by a transparent plastic protective film. The cardboard is slightly undulated. This piece has an image area of 19.25" x 25.25", signed in the lower right corner and the art is in very good condition.
