DescriptionMichael H. Price Bloody Visions Vol. 1: John & Kate Bender Portrait Original Art (Shel-Tone Publ. & Cremo Studios, 1991). Price's notorious Bloody Visions portfolio traces the history of serial murder in a case-by-case perspective. The Benders were among the first such documented perpetrators -- operators of a roadhouse in 19th-century Kansas, where guests were robbed and murdered with alarming frequency. The portraits (significantly larger than published size) are well represented in this intense piece, rendered on a heavily textured page. Price's background as a police suspect-sketch artist and courtroom portraitist serves well in this context. Crayon on heavy-duty off-white watercolor stock. Image area, 9" x 13.75". Excellent condition.
