Larry Todd Tales of the Armorkins "Red Robot" Illustration Original Art (c. 1972). A giant red robot/rocketship looks down at a tiny Armorkin, in this superb piece by Dr. Atomic artist Larry Todd. We can't say for sure what the proposed use for this illustration originally was, but the silver-colored helmet is identical to the ones featured on the cover of 1971's Tales of the Armorkins, published by Company and Sons; this may have been Todd's planned back cover (that stand-alone issue features a back cover ad by Trina Robbins, possibly changed at the last minute by the publisher), or it might have been for a never-published second issue. At any rate, this colorful mixed media artwork (primarily done in ink, watercolor, and color pencils) is on illustration board, with an approximate image size of 13" x 21.75". In Good condition with handling wear, mild water staining, and a torn lower right corner (away from the image). This piece is included in the book, Underground Classics: The Transformation of Comics Into Comix by James Danky and Denis Kitchen, and was included in the art exhibit by Chazen Museum of Art. From the Eric Sack Collection.
