Description

L. B. Cole - Ritual Sacrifice Illustration and Spot Illustrations Original Art Group of 6 (undated). This lot of six illustrations showcases L. B. Cole's range and recurring themes of danger and spectacle. The central illustration presents a woman on an altar, moments from sacrifice by a hooded demon, rendered with Cole's trademark sense of menace. Five separate spot illustrations feature Dracula, a shark, Superman's cape hanging from a phone booth, an elderly artist, and a lighthouse. Together they highlight Cole's ability to shift from pulp horror to surreal imagery with equal command. Drafted in graphite on paper with an edge-to-edge image area of 8.5" x 11". Signed by Cole in the lower right of the image area. Two punched holes along the left edge of the image area. The five spot illustrations are rendered in graphite on paper with image areas ranging from 3.75" x 3.75" to 9" x 2". Includes COA. Light handling wear and in Very Good condition.
From the Keif Fromm Estate.
