    Description

Kurt Schaffenberger Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane Try-Out Page Illustration Original Art (1957). Great Rao! This is a true piece of comic book industry history right here, friends! This is Kurt Schaffenberger's try-out page, when he applied for work with DC Comics in 1957. It led to his working on Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane, and a 30+ year association with DC Comics. He came by the job fairly, with his strong background of work, most notably with the Marvel Family from Fawcett. This comics-history-in-the-making work features five images and a collective image area of 20" x 14". It is ink on Bristol board and comes with a personal letter from Schaffenberger authenticating this piece from a previous auction. As far as we can tell, this is previously unpublished, and by its nature would have been the first time he professionally drew these characters. Tanned, with minor edge wear, there is a small rip in the right margin and bottom right corner, otherwise in Very Good condition.
