Description

Kelly Freas "Bean Pot" Illustration Original Art (1951). Here is a fantastic illustration by fantasy grand master Frank Kelly Freas from the earliest days of his career (he started illustrating covers for Weird Tales in 1950). This illustration is titled "Bean Pot" according to a note taped on the back of the piece, indicating that it was purchased at NolaCon II in 1988. Freas' early artwork had exaggerated and sometimes whimsical touches, such as the exaggerated anatomy and the cartoonish expressions on the character's faces. Rendered in ink over graphite on canvas with an image area of 12" x 10". Canvas has been affixed to a sheet of paper, which is torn away at the edges of the canvas. Two abrasions or tears in the art have been repaired on the back with tape. Canvas is lightly toned and shows signs of handling wear. Overall in Very Good condition.
