Description

John Romita Sr. - Spider-Man Young Readers Book Illustration Original Art Group of 2 (Marvel, c. 1970-80s). Spider-Man, J. Jonah Jameson, and "Robbie" Robertson are present in both of these works. The first is an original art piece on vellum that has been affixed to a Sparta World Color Press Bristol board. It has an image area of 11.5" x 15". There is whiteout touch-up and a bubble in the paste-up across the middle top of image area. Romita signed this piece in pencil at the bottom and in blue marker on the Bristol board. The second piece is a large stat of the previous image affixed to another Bristol board. However, it has two new pieces of original art pasted over the young man in the foreground and the rather slinky lady on J.J.'s desk is transformed into Betty Brant. There is whiteout touch-ups on them as well and the boy seems to have has his head ripped off and re-attached. This piece is signed in blue marker by Romita in the bottom margin as well. Both pieces seem to have room for an indicia or text on the bottom margin; however, the page aspect ratio shows it was not produced for a regular comic format. The original art page is tanned with touch-ups and a paste-up bubble/wrinkle, so it is in Very Good condition. The mostly-stat page has a small bubble/wrinkle just under the image area, otherwise in Excellent condition.
