John Gee and Others The Children's Hour and Additional Storybook/Pageant Art for Children Original Art Group of 5 (c. 1950s-1980s). Before he became famous for his comic strip The Timbertoes in Highlights for Children magazine, Gee contributed many drawings to The Children's Hour, a hardcover periodical published in uniform volumes. The piece included here accompanied "The Dippy," by Edward Wade Devlin. Additional pieces include a large-scale costume design by Pete Menafee, for an amusements park in Japan; a nursery-tale piece of indistinct signature; and two pages of figures and shapes for a French-English word book featuring Babar the Elephant. Ink over graphite and various other media on varied page stock. Image areas, 6" x 9" to 16" x 20". Conditions range from Very Good to Excellent condition.
