Joe Orlando - Tales From the Crypt Specialty Homage Cover Illustration Original Art (undated). A ghastly underwater tableau unfolds in this chilling illustration by EC legend Joe Orlando, where murdered bodies float tethered to the ocean floor as ghouls gather to claim them. A cornerstone of EC's pre-Code era, Orlando brought his clean draftsmanship and cinematic flair to classics like Tales From the Crypt, The Vault of Horror, and Weird Science, mastering both horror and sci-fi with equal skill. Revisiting his macabre roots, Orlando delivers a specialty illustration that stands as one of his most strikingly graphic and haunting works we've had the pleasure to offer. Created in ink and white paint highlights over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 14.25" x 19.75" (including the stat logo/trade dressing paste-up), Plexiglas-front framed to 19" x 24.75". Slight toning, smudging, acetate overlay strip with printed hosts with white paint on the back is taped to the board, discolored tape, and whiteout touch-ups. Signed by Orlando in the lower right image area. Presents in Very Good condition.Auction Info
