Description

Jim Lee - Superman Model Sheet Illustration Original Art (2003). Before Jim Lee took flight on Superman, he worked out the Man of Steel right here. After WildStorm's sale to DC in 1998, the road gradually led to Lee's blockbuster "Hush" run in Batman #608-619, which in turn set the stage for his next marquee DC assignment: the 12-part "For Tomorrow" storyline with Brian Azzarello in Superman #204-215. That arc found Superman grappling with a mysterious event that caused one million people, including Lois Lane, to vanish. This original model sheet was created by Lee before the run began, rendered entirely by his hand in pencil and ink. It clearly helped define the look he carried into the series, especially the standout first cover to Superman #204. Created in ink over graphite on DC Bristol board with an image area of 12.5" x 9.25". Minor smudging, whiteout corrections, and handling wear. Signed and dated by Lee in the lower right, and signed again in the lower margin. Otherwise, in Excellent condition.
