Jerry Moriarty Jack Mows the Lawn Original Art (c. 1980s). Moriarty's Jack Survives suite of large-scale ink-and-watercolor paintings is a masterful chronicle of the lives of ordinary folks, performing mundane chores with a dreamlike attitude. The artist found his stride during the 1970s in a début gallery show in SoHo, then broke through via Art Spiegelman's magazine, RAW, and a spinoff book called Jack Survives. This piece is consistent with the style established in that folio. (The artist describes himself as "a paintoonist.") Drybrush (ink and white watercolor) over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 16" x 21.25". Light toning. Excellent condition.
