Description

Jay Lynch Portrait of Pat the Cat Original Art (c. 1970s). Lynch, a Chicago-based pioneer of the Underground Comix movement, pictures his signature character, Pat the Cat, in a large-scale cameo, circular in form. The delicacy of the pen-line is astonishing, with crosshatching so richly detailed that it seems almost black. The dotted border only looks like Zipatone shading film -- it's actually an intricate pattern of hand-laid pen-point speckles. Astonishing. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 8" round, professionally matted to 12" round. Excellent condition. From the Eric Sack Collection.
