Description

Jack Kirby - Captain America Illustration Original Art (1974). A good-sized piece, with a larger Cap figure than you'll find on any cover! What character epitomizes the USA more than one of its most heroic superheroes -- Captain America! Legendary comic artist Jack Kirby captures the American spirit with an iconic shot of the Star-Spangled Avenger and three soldiers from the Revolutionary War (a nod to the famous painting The Spirit of '76 by Archibald Willard), perhaps produced with the thought of America's Bicentennial on the horizon. Kirby made this for his assistant, the late Steve Sherman, inscribing it "To Steve - Best Wishes Jack Kirby - '74." Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image size of 10.25" x 15.75". Toned, missing top right corner, horizontal creasing through the image, with corner creasing and edge/handling wear. Very Good condition.
From the Steve Sherman Collection.
