Jack Davis Spring Has Arrived! Original Cartoon Art (c. 1950s). The chagrined neighbor (right) appears irritated that his neighbors are staring at his Bermuda shorts -- a sure sign of spring, in the suburbs of the 1950s. A vivid example of Davis' larger career beyond his starting-point at MAD. That broader scope lies partly in such self-contained cartoons as this one, which casts a sardonic glance at middle-class family life. Brilliant in its combination of subtle, ironic humor with brash visual imagery. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 7.5" x 8". Excellent condition.More information about Jack Davis.
