Description
Jack Davis Humbug #4 Page 22 Illustration Original Art and Art Patch (Humbug Publications, 1957). Jack Davis' first version of this gag followed the original Harvey Kurtzman layout to a "T"! (That Kurtzman rough is included in this sale also!) After completion, it was decided to make the art for this less of a caricature and more realistic. As such, Davis created an art patch for the center piece. The art was created in ink on illustration board (Bristol board for the patch) with an image area of 10" x 14.5". The art patch is separate, but included. The original art has glue stains where the patch had been applied. All text is stat paste-up and some is missing.
