Description
Howard Cruse Witch Original Art (1985). Cruse combines slapstick and psychedelia with a masterly command of pen-and-ink -- as close as any Underground Comix artist has ever come to bringing a MAD Magazine sensibility into the realm of counterculture cartooning. His vision of a stylish witch, here, is recognizably the work of the artist responsible for such classics as Wendel, Barefootz, and Stuck Rubber Baby. Signed twice. Ink and Zipatone shading over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 7" x 13". Excellent condition. Auctioned on behalf of longtime comics professional, Larry Shell, whose artist friends have donated this and other pieces to assist him in this time of need.More information about Howard Cruse.
