Description

Harry North Clods' Letters to MAD Interior Illustration Original Art (EC Publ./Warner Books, 1974). The artist byline cites Al Jaffee -- but even so prolific a gagman must have a relief-pitcher now and again. The actual artist for this caricature-rich page is Englishman North (signed, lower right), the only cartoonist at the time to have contributed original material to both the U.S. and U.K. versions of MAD. Depicted in a frenzied dash for the trashcan are such Hollywood figures as Al Pacino, James Caan, Gene Hackman, Telly Savalas, Alice Cooper, Clint Eastwood, Dennis Weaver, and Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein Monster). Ink and wash over graphite on Bristol adhered to illustration board with an image area of approximately 7.75" x 11.25". Minimal retouching, light smudging, and un-erased pencil borders. Very Good condition.
