Description

H. G. Peter - Wonder Woman at McSorley's Old Ale House Illustration Original Art (c. 1940s). Very little H. G. Peter original art is known to exist, despite the fact that the artist drew Wonder Woman for more than 15 years! This charming and historic piece features a full-body portrait of Peter's definitive Wonder Woman as she uses her Lasso of Truth to cleverly skirt the "men-only" rule at one of New York City's oldest and most iconic bars, McSorley's Old Ale House. Rendered in ink and watercolor over graphite on 17" x 14.5" Bristol board, matted and glass-front framed to an overall size of 21.5" x 18.75". A header and four classic Peter-illustrated Wonder Woman comic panels are pasted across the center to right side of the board. The board shows toning, glue residue where some paste-up elements have flaked off, and light foxing. Additional wear includes pinholes, small edge tears, and missing right corners. In Very Good condition.
