Description
Guillaume Sorel - Gandalf of Lord of the Rings Illustration Original Art (1984). "You shall not pass!" One of the most famous and dramatic scenes from J. R. R. Tolkien's classic masterpiece. Sorel is known for providing spot illustrations for French gamer magazines Casus Belli, and Scales, as well as being the artist on numerous European hardcover comic books such as L'Île des Morts, 'Amnésia' for Le Téméraire, and others. He provided illustrations for versions of the role-playing games RuneQuest, and Stormbringer released in France. This piece is ink over graphite on 11.5" x 16" Bristol board. Signed and dated in the lower right. The art board has been affixed to a thin 12.75" x 19.75" paper backing. The backing and the art have been rolled previously, leaving some creases and curls to the board, and minor rips to the paper. In Very Good condition.More information about Guillaume Sorel.
