    Description

Gray Morrow Red Circle Sorcery #9 Half-Page Advertisement Original Art (Archie, 1974). Archie Comics attempt to compete with the success of EC and DC in the horror-suspense genre led to the anthology comics Red Circle Sorcery and Mad House, promoted in the house ad available here. Mad House changed from the satirical humor of their early issues emulating EC's MAD, to a more "chilling" format with the haunting artwork of veteran artist Gary Morrow. Rendered in ink over graphite with an image area of 10" x 7.5". The toned board has a discolored stat title paste-up, staple holes, production tape residue staining on the edges, a small tear on the left edge, with light handling wear. In Very Good condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
