Giorgio Comolo The Infinity Gauntlet #1 Cover Re-Imagining Illustrations and Preliminary Original Art Group of 3 (2022). Whether you're a fan of Comolo or a devotee of Marvel's Infinity Gauntlet era, this lot is pure cosmic candy. Thanos raises the Infinity Gauntlet fully jeweled with all six Gems, a visual promise of catastrophe not just for the Marvel Universe, but for existence itself. Comolo delivers an oversized re-imagining of the iconic opening-issue cover from the epic where Earth's surviving heroes mount a last-ditch offensive against a newly nigh-omnipotent Thanos.Included are both a colored and a black-and-white finished illustration, each built over underlying graphite with only minor variations between them, plus the preliminary. The cast is stacked with heavy hitters and cosmic entities alike, including Mephisto, Death, Silver Surfer, Galactus, Hulk, Captain America, the Watcher, Nick Fury, Spider-Man, Hawkeye, Doctor Strange, Eternity, Drax the Destroyer, Firelord, Eros, Mentor, Sersi, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, and Empress S'ybill, each given Comolo's grand, heroic treatment.
The colored piece is executed in mixed media on watercolor board with an image area of 16.25" x 24". The black-and-white counterpart is rendered in ink and marker over graphite on Bristol board, also with an image area of 16.25" x 24". The preliminary is ink over graphite on four sheets of paper, taped together on the reverse, for an overall image area of 14.75" x 21.75". Both the color and black-and-white illustrations are signed and dated by Comolo in the lower right image area. Overall, in Excellent condition.
