Description
George Herriman Krazy Kat Specialty Illustration Original Art (undated). Ignatz gets a little help from "Joe Stork" in dropping that brick on his beloved's head, in this lovely glimpse of the sweetly surreal world of Krazy Kat. George Herriman based his settings on his vacation home in Coconino County, Arizona, and this piece, with its magnificent, towering stone butte in the foreground and majestic mountains in the distance, typifies that region beautifully. The artwork is in ink, graphite, and watercolor, edge-to-edge on Bristol board measuring 13.5" x 14.5". There's a bit of foxing present, particularly over the mountains directly above Krazy's head, and some fading of the color, but regardless of these minor distractions, it remains a vividly colorful work of art, in Very Good condition. With all three main players present, including Offissa Pupp napping to the right, this is a wonderful specialty illustration for one of the most celebrated American comic strips of the Twentieth Century.More information about George Herriman.
