Description

Frank Stack - Jungle Girl Illustration Original Art (undated). This jungle heroine illustration was created by Kitchen Sink editor and contributor Frank Stack, better known during his tenure at the company as Foolbert Sturgeon. Considered by some such as Gilbert Shelton to have produced the first underground comic in 1962, his expressive and wantonly progressive employ of understated nude forms speaks volumes to the beginnings of the underground movement he took part in shaping. Signed and addressed to Denis (presumably Kitchen) in the bottom right of the image area. Ink on watercolor stock with an image area of 9" x 12". Spot stains, very light water damage at bottom left corner. In Excellent condition.
From the Denis Kitchen Collection.
