Description
Frank R. Paul Sexology Magazine Illustration Original Art (Gernsback/Medi-Media, 1954). The names of Frank R. Paul and publisher Hugo Gernsback are essential to an understanding of science fiction as a popular literary form. Gernsback had introduced the first dedicated SF magazine, Amazing Stories, in 1926, with architect-illustrator Paul as an essential contributor. A similarly revolutionary publication was Gernsback's Sexology, which ran from 1933 until 1983 as a frank and often scientific survey of the erotic impulse. Paul was on board for the long term. This sex-in-space illustration captures Paul at the height of his techno-design powers. Ink and greyscale airbrush on illustration board, measuring 11" x 13.75". Excellent condition, with marginal handling wear. From the Roger Hill Collection.
