Description

Frank R. Paul - Science Fiction Magazine Illustration Original Art (Gernsback Publications, c. 1953-1960s). Frank R. Paul was a well-known master-class sci-fi artist in the 1930s and into the 1960s. He worked with Hugo Gernsback (thought of as the father of science fiction magazines) on many different publications. This look at the future of medicine is lovely, detailed, and uplifting. The reverse side of the board has it addressed to "H. Gernsback" and at an address that Gernsback was using in the mid-1950s into the 1960s. It is unknown which publication this was intended for, or if it was even a science fiction-themed publication. Gernsback had titles aimed at science and technology as well. The art by Paul was created in ink and grey tone gouache with white paint highlights over graphite on illustration board. Signed in the lower right of the 24" x 9" image area. Toned and in Very Good condition.
