Description

Frank Frazetta Li'l Abner-style Illustration Original Art (c. 1950s). Not even creator Al Capp could draw the Li'l Abner-style characters better than Frazetta, who spent much of the 1950s as Capp's ghost-assistant, bound for bigger accomplishments. Frazetta's hitch on Abner yielded some of the most voluptuous women in comics history -- but in this out-of-context piece he depicts a hideous and scrawny hillbilly crone, nursing a drink at a rickety bar. The face resembles that of Jeb Scragg, a recurring villain in Li'l Abner. The exaggerated naturalism is spellbinding. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 10" x 15". Excellent condition.
