Description
David Wright The Sketch "Just Dandy" Glamour Girl Pin-Up Painting Illustration Original Art (1945). This dandy dame strikes that irresistible balance between demure and sultry. David Wright walks the line beautifully in this striking pin-up of one of his famed "lovelies," posed amid the plush privacy of her dressing room. What set Wright apart from other cheesecake artists of the era was his gift for realism -- his women feel lived-in, self-possessed, and unmistakably human. This particular pin-up appeared in the 6-27-1945 edition of the British publication, right at the height of Wright's wartime popularity. Created in gouache on Bristol board with an end-to-end image area of 9.75" x 12.75". Toning, with dust shadow on edges, and some areas of discoloration in the top half, light scratches in the lower half, minor corner creasing, and handling wear. Signed by Wright in the lower left corner and in Very Good condition. Also comes with a separate backing board originally paired with the 1943 pin-up from The Sketch titled "Quite Something".More information about David Wright.
