Description
David Wright - Glamour Girl Applying Lipstick Pin-Up Painting Illustration Original Art (c. 1949). "Hold that thought while I put on the finishing touch." A gorgeous glamour gal looks back mid-lipstick with the kind of confidence that makes the rest of the world wait its turn. This pin-up dates to David Wright's late-1940s peak and was likely aimed at the American market. The refined yet sensuous presentation, along with production annotations and a New York reference on the verso, suggests it may have been intended for a U.S. mass-circulation magazine such as American Weekly, though no definitive printed example has yet been identified. Created in gouache over graphite on illustration board with an image area of 11" x 13.5". Toning, with some foxing in the image area, smudging, staining, bumped corners, and handling wear.
