Description

Daniel Vierge Don Quixote Illustration Original Art (c. 1890s). Don Quixote hangs from a window, balancing on his horse, Rocinante, in this key scene from the Cervantes epic by Vierge. The talented 19th century artist created illustrations of the story up until his death in 1904, and his works were published in The History Of The Valorous And Witty Knight-Errant Don Quixote Of The Mancha (London: T. Fisher Unwin, 1906-07). Ink over graphite on 11.5" x 17.5" Bristol board. Age toning and wear, with abrasions, staining, edge tears, missing bottom left corner, and a loose bottom right corner with the artist's signature (separate and included). In Good condition.
