Clark Ashton Smith - Wine Flagon Illustration Original Art (c. 1930s). Best known for conjuring strange fantasy worlds in the pages of Weird Tales, Clark Ashton Smith was far more than a writer. A gifted poet and artist, his imagination spilled into every medium he touched, and this unique rendering of a wine flagon carries the same otherworldly flourish that animated his tales of sorcery and shadow. Created in watercolor and ink over graphite on art paper mounted to 3.5" x 4.75" board, with an image area of 1.5" x 3". Smudging, corner crease, tiny scratch, and minor handling wear. Signed by Smith in the lower right image area. In Very Good condition.From the Howard Lowery Collection.
