Description

Clark Ashton Smith - Two Heads Illustration Original Art (c. 1930s). A prolific writer celebrated for his weird horror and science fiction in Weird Tales, Amazing Stories, and Fantastic Universe, Smith was equally known for his poetry and artwork, often producing intimate, smaller pieces like these two headshots. The neanderthal figure is drawn with chilling precision, its haunting gaze seeming to pierce your very soul. Rendered in graphite on paper with an image area of 7.5" x 3.5". Toning, lower left edge tear repaired with tape on the back, trimmed edges, edge tears, smudging, missing piece in the lower right corner, and handling wear. Signed by Smith in the lower right corner. In Very Good condition.
From the Howard Lowery Collection.
