Description

Clark Ashton Smith - The Uncanny Man Illustration Original Art (c. 1930s). A prolific voice in the golden age of pulps, Smith earned renown for his richly imagined horror and science fiction in magazines like Weird Tales and Fantastic Universe. Beyond the page, he was also an accomplished poet and visual artist, creating eerie, evocative drawings that mirrored the otherworldly tone of his fiction, like this striking profile of an inhuman giant. Rendered in black, orange, and red crayon on art paper mounted to 7" x 9.25" board, with an image area of 5" x 7". Toning, minor edge tear, lower left corner crease, and handling wear. Faint Smith signature at the bottom center. In Very Good condition.
From the Howard Lowery Collection.
