Charles Schulz Snoopy/ Peanuts Illustration Original Art (1969). Minnesota-born Charles Schulz had a life-long love of ice hockey. After his move to California in the 1960s, his success with the Peanuts comic strips enabled him to finance the construction of the Redwood Empire Ice Arena, which opened on March 28, 1969. Schulz contributed a number of original art pieces for the arena, including this great image of Snoopy with a hockey stick. It was created to welcome the Sarnia, Ontario Canada Travel Hockey Team by the Santa Rosa Junior Hockey Club. The art is in ink and graphite on Bristol board, with an image area, including lettering (all done by hand) of 6.5" x 8". There is a small band of contact marking that faintly runs from Snoopy's face to the bottom of the board, which could be professionally removed; otherwise the art is in Excellent condition.
