Description

C. C. Beck - Marvel Family Illustration Original Art (1986). Three champions stand in quiet readiness as the wizard Shazam bestows his mighty powers upon them in this lovely painted illustration featuring Captain Marvel, Captain Marvel Jr., and Mary Marvel. The scene favors legacy over spectacle. It appears clearly inspired by Mr. Beck's 1945 cover to The Marvel Family #1, reimagined here without Uncle Marvel. Produced as part of his secondary career creating commissioned scenes, this work was completed only a few years before his death in 1989. The art is created in ink over graphite with watercolor/gouache on board with an image area of 10.75" x 15.5"; matted and glass-front framed to 17" x 21.5". Signed and dated by Beck in the image area. Presents in Excellent condition.
