Description

Bob Zoell West Magazine Illustration Original Art (LA Times, 1970). Zoell's postmodern synthesis of Depression-era cartooning styles (Disney, Iwerks, Bushmiller, Fleischer) hits a solid stride with this embittered commentary on property rights and discrimination. Zoell crossed over gracefully from Underground Comix and rock 'n' roll circles into the pop-culture mainstream. His output of this period also included album covers for Kiki Dee and the Flamin' Groovies -- an instantly recognizable style, and as appealing today as in the artist's prime of productivity. Ink and Dr. Martin's Dyes over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 12.5" x 16", matted to 18.5" x 22". Moderate fading in tinted areas. Very Good condition. From the Eric Sack Collection.
