Description

Bill Willingham Fables: Legends in Exile "A Wolf in the Fold" Illustration Original Art (DC/Vertigo, 2003). Who's afraid of the Bigby bad wolf? This striking illustration from Fables creator Bill Willingham was created to accompany the six-page prose story "A Wolf in the Fold," which explores Bigby Wolf's backstory as the Big Bad Wolf prior to his enchantment. The piece first appeared in the Fables: Legends in Exile trade paperback and was later included in Fables: The Deluxe Edition Book Two. The decision to render Bigby's wolf form in silhouette -- leaving the bold white of the board untouched -- makes the page pop, especially when contrasted with the intricate detail on the opposite side of the composition. Feathertop and Snow White also appear, trying to persuade Bigby to join them in their hidden sanctuary, Fabletown.
Crafted in ink over graphite on DC/Vertigo Bristol board with an image area of 10.25" x 15.5". There is light staining/discoloration, along with some creasing in the lower corners that only lightly affects the image area. Signed in the lower area. In overall Excellent condition.
